What is Mindful Eating?

Mindful eating is a simple practice based on the principle of mindfulness, a Buddhist concept. When associating this concept with eating mindful eating can be explained as a state of full attention when eating any meal. It involves bringing together various food-related behaviors, experiences, cravings, and physical cues into practice.
Fundamentally, mindful eating involves various steps; let us look at them:
– Eating slowly and without any distraction.
– Listening to physical hunger cues and eating till you are well satiated.
– Engaging all your senses by noticing the colors, smells, textures, and flavors of the food.
– Understanding the difference between true hunger and non-hunger triggers for eating.
– Noticing the effects of food on your emotional and physical attributes.
– Eating to maintain overall health and well-being.
– Appreciation and Gratefulness for the food.
Mindful Eating helps develop an awareness of your food-related triggers and allows you the freedom to choose your responses towards them.
